Why does Active Music Digital have no backing tracks?
Active Music Digital is full of games and activities, designed for us to listen to and develop our children’s voices. We need to hear the children’s voices as they really are to be able to help them gain confidence and progress. it is easier other and access a child’s voice if it is not drowned out by a backing track.
I am from outside the UK, can you explain the age range within Key Stages 1 & 2?
Reception/Key Stage 1 : 4 – 7 years old
Key Stage 2 : 7 – 11 years old
Why is Active Music Digital set out in 4 half-termly blocks?
As a music specialist myself , I am aware that schools run Christmas shows every Christmas, taking up the whole of the half term running up to it. I am also aware that many schools have summer shows, Easter concerts or want to engage in topical work. I felt that 4 terms to focus specifically on musical skills would enable schools to have more freedom for topics and shows for the remainder of the year without cutting the children’s skill development short.
Does Active Music Digital offer topical music lessons?
No, Active Music Digital offers progressive, skill-based lesson plans.
Do you have to follow a certain order for the lesson plans?
Ideally, yes. Active Music Digital has been written in such a way that what the children learn in Rhythm & Pulse is needed for the Pitch lessons as skills are built upon. the singing games give the children more repertoire and then the instrumental lessons take from all that the children have learnt in Rhythm & Pulse, Pitch and Singing Games and add instrumental activities based around songs and games the children have already learnt. This is the ideal order for the plans to be taught.
